Color guard focuses on the leadership and citizenship portion of the cadet program, areas which each squadron should work on throughout the year. Color guard experiences help cadet members feel like they are part of a team. Color guards are also an excellent way to present your unit to the community either by public appearances or public affairs releases of their accomplishments.
So, what is Color Guard? Civil Air Patrol Color Guards have at least 2 flag bearers and 2 guards. The 4 cadets will present the colors (flags) of the United States, New Mexico, and/or the Squadron or other flags. The ceremony of presenting or posting the colors is a solemn action done for any public group that requests it. It is often also done during a squadron’s meetings.
